Allies in Peace and Justice Announce...

Just a reminder the (League of Women Voter's) committee meets Thurs. June 7, starting at 1:30 PM at League Office (1272 Delaware). We have an Occupy Buffalo guest, John Washington, who will speak with us at 2:30 PM.

Nate Buckley's Trial Continues.....

Nate: "My trial is 9 am Thursday the 7th and Friday the 8th in Buffalo City Court (50 Delaware Ave.), in Part 6 with Judge Fiorella. Please spread the word and use the excuse to talk about all that this case brings to light and support in what you are working on.

Some quick requests for those who come. Please behave respectfully and calm in the court room. Please dress comfortable but also appropriately
for the court room. This isn’t because we buy into their standards of dress or behavior but acknowledge the jury who decides the case might.

Thank you, may all our efforts continue to grow, prosper gather momentum and build unity and together topple this inhumane, racist, unjust system
and build a humane just world in its wake!"

Thank you for all the support. I would also remind people that you have to go through a metal detector- they don't allow hats or sunglasses in the
court and the jury according to nate's lawyers will quickly make negative decisions about nate and his supporters if we are heavy sighing -
guffawing - laughing etc. at court proceedings.

A request from the International Institute of Buffalo....

We are looking to place two male delegates in a home without any cats due to allergies (or one male delegate in any home and one male delegate in another home without cats). The dates of this hosting opportunity will be from June 8 - 16 (the delegates will be gone most of the day during the week attending professional
meetings). If you are able to provide this home-stay let me know.

I understand that hosting someone in your home for a week is a lot to ask, but we really need to place these two delegates. If you can’t do it, can you suggest any friends that might be able to?

I appreciate your help and thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Emily Korona

======================================

The final edition of the feature documentary, *9/11: Explosive Evidence - Experts Speak Out*, will be shown theatrically for one night only at
*The Market Arcade Cinema 639 Main St. Buffalo on Friday, Jun 8 at 9 pm*.

40+ experts, representing 1,700+ technical and building professionals calling for a new investigation of the the destruction of the three World
Trade Center skyscrapers on 9/11, present the evidence for controlled demolition. The film is further enhanced with the inclusion of experts in
the fields of psychology and sociology who address the difficulty in confronting and processing the information presented.

Why revisit 9/11?
Our World changed that day ...

- 2,744 lives lost in New York, and counting,

- 1 million lives lost in Afghanistan and Iraq, and counting, 6,000 U.S. troops lost in the War on Terror, and counting,

- $4.5 Trillion. War on Terror cost to US taxpayer, and counting,

- precious civil liberties removed by the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, Dept. of Homeland Security, Transportation Security
Administration (TSA), National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA 2012).

- Today, Americans can be subject to search and seizure without a warrant, detained or imprisoned indefinitely, without a lawyer, without evidence, without trial, or even tortured, merely for being accused of being associated with terrorism.

*Ignoring the World Trade Center evidence is no longer an option. *

Course of Study this Summer
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Take Advantage of a Rare Opportunity to Study Nuclear History in Hiroshima
and Nagasaki****

** **

American University’s Nuclear Studies Institute welcomes participants to the summer 2012 Peace Tour in Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, Japan. Offered every summer beginning with the 1995 commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the atomic bombings, the class was named “the most creative and innovative” summer program in North America by the North American Association of Summer Sessions. Participants regularly describe the experience as “life-changing.” The class explores the ethical, political, and military implications of the wartime use of atomic bombs; the human and physical devastation wrought by the atomic bombings; Japanese wartime aggression; current Japanese and international efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons; the history of the arms race; the building of closer ties between the peoples of the United States, Japan, and China; and the causes and effects of the Fukushima nuclear accident. It is designed to provide
citizens with the knowledge to act responsibly in today’s charged political atmosphere and to provide peace activists with the historical background needed to maximize the effectiveness of their efforts. ****

The class is offered on a for-credit basis to undergraduate and graduate students and a reduced-cost non-credit basis for other participants. U.S. participants live and study with an equal number of Japanese, Chinese, and other Asian students and professors from Japan’s Ritsumeikan University and Asia Pacific University. Participants spend time with atomic bomb survivors. One of Japan’s most prominent and youngest hibakusha, Koko Tanimoto Kondo—daughter of Rev. Kiyoshi Tanimoto, who was portrayed so unforgettably by John Hersey in his classic *Hiroshima*—travels with the group the entire time. We also meet with scholars, peace activists, and Asian victims of Japanese atrocities, who provide first-hand accounts of their experiences. Among the speakers this summer will be one of the
soldiers who participated in the Rape of Nanjing. Students also participate in a broad range of public and private commemorative events and visit peace
museums and relevant cultural and historical sites in Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, such as the Kyoto Museum for World Peace, the Hiroshima Peace
Memorial Museum, the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, Nagasaki’s Oka Masaharu Museum, the Radiation Effects Research Foundation, and peace parks in
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Although the subject matter is serious, participants also have time to socialize and even attend a Hiroshima Carps baseball game.****
